Recycling Electronics

Electronic waste is the fastest growing source of waste in North America. When e-waste is not recycled, it ends up in our landfills. Lead, cadmium and mercury are found in most electronic equipment, increasing risks to human health and the environment if they are not properly managed.

The Township of South Glengarry is pleased to provide residents with free access to an E-Waste Recycling bin at our landfill sites through Ontario Electronic Stewardship.

Accepted Items

The following electronic items can be recycled in the e-waste bin:
  • Desktop and portable computers
  • Computer peripherals (keyboards, mice, trackballs)
  • Desktop printers
  • Floor-standing IT, printing, copying and multi-function devices (photocopiers, printers)
  • Mobile devices (cell phones, pagers)
  • Televisions and monitors
  • Non-cellular telephones
  • Personal or portable audio/visual systems (speakers, stereos, MP3 players, voice recorders, video cameras, CD players, headphones)
  • Home theatre systems
  • Home audio/video systems (VCRs, DVD and CD players, amplifiers, data projectors, satellite equipment)
