Glengarry's most southernly location situated on the St. Lawrence River. Originally named Kirktown, this area features historic homes and gift shops, with nearby Cooper Marsh Conservation area providing marshland, treed swamps, upland meadows, ponds and streams.
South Lancaster became the transportation point for the back concessions, first with the building of a wharf for boats to carry potash and timber and then by steamboats, which arrived on Lake St. Francis in 1826.
