96% Coverage throughout South Glengarry

The Township of South Glengarry recognizes the importance of quality internet access for its residents and businesses. As a result, the Township of South Glengarry has now successfully completed two broadband projects funded by the Province of Ontario which extended high speed internet to over 96% of South Glengarry - the highest in all of Eastern Ontario.

100% of the costs of these projects were funded. The broadband expansion was assisted by the Ontario Government through the Rural Connections Broadband Program.  The province provided funding up to $950,000 or one-third for these estimated $2.5 million projects and Bell Aliant covered the remaining two-thirds of the project.

The purpose of these projects was to increase access to broadband internet service through DSL and a fixed wireless network to the rural areas of the Township of South Glengarry. In addition to building broadband Infrastructure, the Township has created three Wireless Hot Spots, located at the Char-Lan Recreation Centre, Martintown Community Centre and Smithfield Park in Lancaster to provide unobstructed, free access to residents and tourists alike.

These broadband projects play an important role in the economic development, social development and vibrancy of the Township of South Glengarry.  It will help the community become more productive, innovative and competitive in the global economy.  The Township would like to acknowledge the support of The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Bell Aliant in bringing these projects to completion.
