Zoning Processes
Zoning Amendment |
If you want to use or develop your property in a way that is not permitted by the Zoning By-law, you may apply for a zoning change, also known as a zoning amendment. |
Minor Variances |
A minor variance is a minor change to a performance standard under the Zoning By-law, granted by the Committee of Adjustment. The purpose of a minor variance is to seek relief from specific provisions of the Zoning By-law, such as setback requirements, parking requirements or lot dimensions. |
Temporary Use By-law |
A temporary use by-law is required if you want to develop your property in a way that is not permitted by the Zoning By-law for a certain period of time. You may apply for a Temporary Use By-law to zone land or buildings for specific uses for a maximum period of three years at a time, with future extensions possible. |
Holding Zone Removal |
Holding Zones restrict development on designated lands until certain conditions are met that would warrant development. The holding symbol can be removed from all or part of a property through a Zoning By-law amendment. |
