Public Consultation: Proposed Heritage Conservation District in South Lancaster

The Township of South Glengarry has received a request to consider the designation of a Heritage Conservation District in South Lancaster. As part of this process, the Township is undertaking a review to determine whether the area holds cultural heritage value that may warrant protection through designation.

At this stage, no decisions have been made.

A Heritage Conservation District recognizes the collective character of an area, such as its buildings, streetscapes, landscapes, and historical development patterns, rather than focusing on a single property. If established, it would help guide how change is managed over time, ensuring the area’s heritage value is considered in future development.

Public input is an important part of this process, and residents are encouraged to learn more and share their feedback.
