Roads, Sidewalks, & Parking
The Township of South Glengarry maintains 390 km of roads and 11.6 km of sidewalks. County Roads are maintained by the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. Our priority is meeting Provincial Maintenance Standards, using a combination of in-house and contracted services to keep our transportation network safe and reliable.
Seasonal Sidewalk Closures
Seasonal sidewalk closures are in effect each year from November 1 to April 1. The following sidewalks are closed for the winter season:

North side of County Road 18 in the Hamlet of St. Raphael’s

North side of County Road 18 in the Village of North Lancaster

County Road 2 in Glen Walter (from 18267 County Road 2 to 18345 County Road 2)

North side of Pine Street (County Road 17) in Lancaster, from Military Road North to Victoria Street
Closures and Maintenance
Road and sidewalk closures may occur due to weather, construction, or community events.

Applications, Permits, and Licences
South Glengarry requires formal approval before any road or sidewalk can be closed, whether for construction, maintenance, or community events. Residents, contractors, and organizers can find the necessary permit applications, such as Entrance Permits, Work in the Right of Way, Road Cuts, Municipal Consent, and Events in the Right of Way on our Applications, Licenses and Permits page.
