Electronic Waste

Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in North America and can contain harmful materials such as lead, cadmium and mercury.

South Glengarry residents can dispose of e-waste for free at Township landfill sites using designated E-Waste Recycling bins. Proof of residency and a completed registration card are required.

Household Hazardous Waste includes common products such as paint, cleaners, motor oil, batteries, pesticides, solvents and fluorescent bulbs. These materials can harm people and the environment if not disposed of properly.

When disposing of electronics, ensure that all personal data is removed from the devices prior to putting them in the bin. If you are unsure how to do this, contact the device manufacturer for more information.

It is your obligation to protect your personal information. The Township of South Glengarry does not accept liability for data or any other digital content that is left on electronic products disposed of at our landfill sites.

Additional Information:

Please be advised that hazardous waste materials cannot be disposed of at the South Glengarry landfill.

From April to November, South Glengarry residents may use the City of Cornwall Waste Disposal Depot (2590 Cornwall Centre Road) to safely dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic waste free of charge on select days and times.

Upon arrival, please inform staff that you are a South Glengarry resident and have proof of residency available.
