Tax Sales

Under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, municipalities may recover unpaid property taxes through a tax sale process. A tax sale occurs when property taxes remain unpaid for an extended period and the municipality, after following legislative notice requirements, offers the property for sale by public tender.
