Landfill Sites | Township of South Glengarry

The Township of South Glengarry offers access at our landfill sites on a rotational basis as follows:

Beaver Brook Landfill

19281 Beaver Brook Road

Found east of Chapel Road, Beaver Brook accepts waste materials from October 1^st to May 31^st on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

North Lancaster Landfill

4580 2nd Line Road

North Lancaster accepts waste materials from June 1^st to September 30^th on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Cornwall Hazardous Waste Depot

2590 Cornwall Centre Road

The Hazardous Waste Depot offers South Glengarry residents a FREE way to dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic waste properly between the months of April and November.

NEW – Card Payments Now Accepted at Township Landfills!

We’re excited to announce that our Township Landfills are now equipped with Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, making it easier than ever to pay for your visit.

Customers can now pay using debit or credit cards, in addition to cash.

Landfill Access Registration

A landfill registration pass costs $20.00 and can be purchased at the Township office or any Landfill Site during regular business hours. Registration is a one-time process. If you change vehicles, bring your old registration card to the Township office or a landfill site, and we’ll issue a new one free of charge.

Tipping Fees

Effective January 1, 2025, the landfill tipping fees will be as outlined in Bylaw 2024-69

Landfill Holiday Closures

Please note that all Township Landfill sites are closed on all Statutory Holidays as well as the following additional dates in 2025:

February 15, April 19, October 11, December 25, December 27

Free Landfill Access Days

The Township provides 2 free entries to our local landfill sites to dispose of non-commercial, non-hazardous waste for all residential property owners in the Township of South Glengarry.

Note: The 2 free entries DO NOT both need to be used on the same day, but you are able to if you so choose.

Upon arrival, you will need to provide the attendant with identification that verifies you are a property owner within the Township of South Glengarry or individual brining material on your behalf needs to provide an *authorization card. The 2 free entries will be valid during available dates, time and locations below.

The Beaver Brook Road Landfill (19281 Beaver Brook Rd., east of Chapel Rd.) accepts waste materials from October 1 to May 31 on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The North Lancaster Landfill (4580 2nd Line Rd.) accepts waste materials from June 1 to September 30 on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Acceptable Vehicles:

Van, pickup, utility trailer and private car

Note: Vehicles must be registered, and the registration fee will still apply. Vehicle registration can be done at the municipal office or the landfill sites during operating hours.

We encourage residents to donate or recycle where possible to divert waste from our landfills.

*Authorization cards can be picked up by the property owner in person at the Municipal office with valid I.D.

Important Changes to South Glengarry Landfill Operations

Starting Monday, February 10, 2025, the following operational changes will take effect at all South Glengarry landfills:

1. Updated Access Hours

Public access is limited to the regular landfill hours:

Thursday & Saturday ONLY

No exceptions

2. New Waste Disposal Intake Form Requirement

A Waste Disposal Intake Form will now be required for:

Any waste transported in a vehicle larger than a passenger vehicle (car, van, or ½-tonne pickup)
Waste transported by a third party

3. Important Reminder – South Glengarry Waste Only

The Township of South Glengarry cannot accept waste generated outside of South Glengarry.

Any waste from outside the township will be refused.
The waste generator will need to make alternative arrangements.

These changes are being implemented to comply with Environmental Compliance Approvals and to preserve landfill capacity for South Glengarry residents.

NEW! Collection and Management of Solid Waste By-Law

Effective August 5, 2025, By-law 2025-28, being a by-law to regulate the collection and management of solid waste in the Township of South Glengarry, will come into effect.

Changes to Waste Accepted at Landfills:

Residential and Agricultural materials will only be accepted if transported by a dump trailer that is 5 cubic meters or smaller
To help preserve the lifespan of the landfill, Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (IC&I) waste will no longer be accepted.
